What a busy year we have had so far! Last week the Centre reached a milestone by holding our mid-term review at The University of Queensland. It was another opportunity to reflect on how far we have come with our science, industry connections, researcher development and outreach. I am extremely proud of our achievements to date and to be a part of such a committed and hard-working team.
As we reported to ARC – our Centre is increasing the odds of breeding success and are delivering across all the objectives we set out to achieve. We are revolutionising plant science globally and have built a powerful international community to position Australia as a global leader! This is only possible due to our transdisciplinary science and our emphasis on equity and inclusion. It was wonderful that the ARC heard so many stories from different parts of the Centre on how people’s mindset and capacity have changed due to experiences within the Centre.
Thank you to all of our members who participated in the interviews:
Early Career Researchers: Hannah Drieberg, Tom Fisher, Beatrice Harrison Day, Jaz Humphreys, Brodie Lawson, Arlie Macdonald, Owen Powell and Emma Sumner.
Chief Investigators: Tim Brodribb, Mark Cooper, Eloise Foo, Barbara Holland, Daniel Ortiz-Barrientos, Brad Sherman and Ian Wright.
Advisory Panel Members: Bettina Berger, John Manners, Julia Playford, Joanne Tompkins and Bruce Walsh.
Professional Staff: Phoebe Baldwin, Kylie Brice, Susie Green, Catherine Jones and David Tomlins.
There were lots of other Centre members who provided support to their colleagues throughout this process and we are appreciative of your time as well.
I would also like to thank the many stakeholders who provided valuable submissions on their working relationship with the Centre. Whilst these submissions were confidential to the ARC, the panel congratulated us on them and we thank our stakeholders one and all for the time and effort you made in preparing submissions.
I greatly appreciate our members’ time and dedication to the Centre and in due course, look forward to sharing the outcome of our review with Centre members and implementing recommendations that may arise from this process.
